What is Psychotherapy and Counselling?
Psychotherapy and counselling are predominantly talking therapies which promote positive change. It is an opportunity for someone to explore their thoughts, feelings and behaviours with a therapist in a safe, confidential and non judgemental way.
PsychotherapyThis is long term and more in depth for people who have had difficulties for some time and who wish to develop greater self awareness into their thoughts feelings and behaviours and development for themselves. The therapist uses the relationship with the individual to understand how past events and beliefs can influence the present. By understanding themselves using their relationship with the therapist people start to make changes in their lives and influence the way they live. This promotes greater change and awareness and self acceptance and enables individuals into leading a more fulfilling life.

CounsellingThis is for people who have a specific difficulty that they wish to work on and to resolve. It is generally more short term and takes place over 6-10 sessions. By undertaking counselling people make a commitment to resolving the issue that they came with and find a way of to gain both understanding and acceptance of the difficulty that they came with. Counselling enables people to change by their using and realising a different perspective and to generally feeling better about their lives.
